Yesterday: high: 96, Low: 80, trace precipitation – but none here unless you count my roommate watering the lawn.

I got this hibiscus as a birthday present from a friend three or four years ago. It was part of a sweet little water garden in the backyard of our old house. Most of the plants died from neglect or had to be left at the house, but this hibiscus and a schefflera made it to this house. The schefflera is going gangbusters on my back porch, and this little beauty has survived an attack of aphidsm and is recovering nicely. Although I would not have picked orange blooms, had I been given the choice, it makes me happy now and looks good in terra cotta. I love how the bloom looks like it is hovering in midair in this picture, not actually attached to the plant.
