Yesterday: High:94, Low: 78, no rain
These were given to me by my next door neighbors (who are incidentally still very high on my list of why this house does not suck, and that list is short). They were going to be relandscaping their backyard (it looks very gorgeous, but too “professionally done” IMO), and knew that I was desperate for plants. When you literally start with nothing but grass, you’ll take just about any plant offered. (I wouldn’t take oleander to save my life.) They had a bunch of these onions growing in a bed (they had literally taken over from the roses they grew next to), and knew they were going to be taken out, so they offered me some. I said, “Of course!”
So he pulled up a bunch and threw them over the fence. 
There was some damage, and I despaired of them ever growing to much, but I potted them up in my lovely new frog planter. I though they would make an awesome mohawk hairdo for him. More than half the stalks fell over in the next couple of weeks. Some survived, but barely. But now I have new strong shoots growing up through the old bulbs.
I wonder if they are edible? I need more research.
