Virtual Seed Catalogs

Yesterday: High: , Low: , 0.01″ rain officially, although mom and I drove through quite a thunderstorm on our way back from the Asian market . . .

I have determined that poring over seed catalogs is much more fun when you can actually touch them. Pointing, clicking . . . Not as much fun as folding down corners. :) I have decided to go with Johnny’s Seeds. They seem to have a good reputation for quality and service, as well as a good selection of plant varieties I am interested in. It took a lot of writing stuff down, and listmaking, and figuring out what veggies I like to cook, and buy at the store, and cross referencing those lists with what grows well in Zone 9 (I will never be able to grow celery or iceberg lettuce); but I think I have figured out my list of seeds to buy for the fall plantings. You’ll be able to figure out a few things about me from the list, I am sure. Such as I have kids who love carrots, we love salads, and I love cooking Japanese food. *grins*

Carrots, “Nelson” and “Purple Haze”
Cilantro, “Santo”
Garlic, “New York White”
Lettuce, “Fireball” and “Jericho”
Mizuna, “Early”
Onions, “Evergreen Hardy White” and “Pumba”
Shiso, “Green”
Snowpeas, “Snow Green”
Spinach, “Spargo”
